Lakshmi Vilas Bank is the brainchild of seven businessmen of the Chettiar Community whose businesses are centered in and around Karur, Tamil Nadu. The seeds for the inception of this bank were sown by Ramalinga Chettiar in the year 1926. During the years 1961-65, the bank expanded its operations significantly. The number of branches also grew in large numbers.
In the years the 1970s’, the bank acquired several other banks and became one of the top private sector banks in the country. The bank is known for the top-notch services it provides to its customers. It has several mergers with other top financial bodies in the country.
