You can use these options to transfer money from one Canara Bank branch to another branch or from Canara Bank to another bank. The popular modes currently used are UPI transfer, NEFT transfer, RTGS transfer, or IMPS.
In this article, we will help you understand the nitty-gritty of NEFT and RTGS transfers from Canara Bank.
Why RTGS/NEFT Transfer Required?
NEFT Transfer:
You can choose to make an NEFT transfer as it is very convenient and very little charge is levied to make this transaction. This is a very safe mode of money transfer from Canara Bank. However, you should use this mode only when making a transfer of an amount below Rs. 2 lakhs. Not because it is the maximum limit but because for transfers above Rs. 2 lakhs RTGS service is available and it is pretty faster when compared to NEFT transfer.
Basically, NEFT transfers are made in timed slots by DNS mode, that’s why they take a comparatively longer time.
The maximum limit for NEFT transfer that can be made in a day as fixed by RBI is Rs. 10 lakhs.
RTGS Transfer:
The minimum amount that can be transferred using an RTGS transaction is Rs. 2 lakhs. That is why if you want to make a transfer above Rs. 2 lakh choose this mode, it is swift and convenient. The RTGS transfer is made on a real-time basis, thereby making it quick.
The maximum limit for RTGS transfer in a day as fixed by RBI is Rs 10 lakhs.

The following charges are levied for every NEFT transfer:
- For up to Rs 10,000 a charge of Rs. 2.25 plus GST.
- For Rs. 10,001 to Rs 1 lakhs a charge of Rs 4.75 plus GST is to be paid.
